1900- The HEC Business School, rue de Tocqueville #44

Despite the imposing façade of its Parisian site on rue de Tocqueville, where the School was first set up in 1881, HEC didn’t become one of the big players until the 20th Century. With its strong focus on business studies, which was considered a rather undignified activity at the time, the School ambitioned to challenge the well-established models of Polytechnique, Centrale or Mines. It didn’t take long though for HEC to become the “Grande Ecole” that it is today.  According to recent press reports, it seems HEC graduates are shoulder to shoulder with engineers at the top of French CAC 40 highest market caps!

HEC Paris celebrates its 130 years in 130 days

To celebrate its 130 years, starting from 12 December HEC Paris is launching a dedicated website that will publish 130 posts tracing back through the greatest moments of its history; a history marked by a taste for audacity.

“130 years of inspiration,” such is the guiding thread that we suggest you follow. With great pedagogical innovations, portraits of alumni who went on to follow rather unique paths, campus life, faculty and other unusual anecdotes, day after day you can take a look at the development not simply of an institution, but also of a state of mind that allowed generations of students to learn to dare, just as the school’s slogan today reminds us: the more you know, the more you dare. This approach is taken not only in homage of all the people who contributed to the construction of both HEC’s history and its success, but also to invite the public to see what lies behind the walls of our institution.

Each day, a photo or video accompanied by a brief commentary will be published on the website www.hec.fr/130ans as well as on iPhone application. Following the same idea, sharing on social networks in and around the “HEC community” will lie at the heart of this project.

Each morning, you can turn on your computers and smart phones to see a snapshot of life at HEC!
