Biographie

Peter Ebbes est titulaire d'un doctorat en économie et marketing de l'Université de Groningen (Pays-Bas).

Ses recherches portent sur la compréhension du comportement des consommateurs grâce aux sources de données recueillies par de nombreuses entreprises. Dans cette perspective, il développe de nouvelles méthodes statistiques afin de répondre aux besoins de marché des consommateurs, de plus en plus complexe, et prend en compte la richesse croissante des sources de données disponibles. La portée de ses études aide à améliorer la prise de décision, en particulier pour les activités de segmentation, de ciblage et de tarification.

Les travaux de Peter ont été publiés dans les journaux Marketing Science, Management Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, Quantitative Marketing and Economics (QME), International Journal of Research in Marketing (IJRM), Psychometrika, entre autres.

Peter est le lauréat du prix 2011 du meilleur article de l'IJRM. Il est aussi le lauréat du meilleur prix de recherche 2016 de la Fondation HEC, ainsi que finaliste du prix 2015 Shelby D. Hunt/Harold M. Maynard, du prix 2015 de Marketing Science Institute/H. Paul Root et du prix 2017 Paul E. Green. Il est le lauréat 2020 de la Sheth Foundation/Prix du Journal of Marketing.

Peter a siégé deux fois au Comité d'Organisation du Forum des techniques de recherches Avancées (ART Forum), une conférence qui réunit les chercheurs quantitatifs des secteurs privés et universitaires. Il est actuellement membre de l'Association Américaine de Marketing (AMA), de l'Association INFORMS, de l'Association Américaine de Statistiques (ASA), de l'Association European Marketing Academy (EMAC) et de la Société Psychométrique.

Ses sujets d'enseignement portent sur la recherche et l'analyse en marketing, les modèles de marketing et la statistique des entreprises. Avant de rejoindre HEC Paris en 2012, Peter a enseigné à l'Université d'État de l'Ohio et à l'Université d'État de Pennsylvanie.
