Indian Firms Go Global, Septembre 2008
It is now the turn of India's emerging companies to take a significant global stake. Boosted by their incredible domestic growth and their self-confidence, they are eager to take a piece of the cake. Pharmaceutical, IT, auto components, hotel business, energy companies etc. rush out of their comfort borders to compete with traditional Western leaders.
The globalization process of India has just begun. Indian firms are going on an overseas shopping spree to extend their client base, enhance their value chain, and secure the country's natural resources supply. Some of them already have their hands on Western florets such as Jaguar and Land Rover, the colour picture tube (CPT) division of Thomson, and the steel producer Corus.
Do you know the many others to come, either as competitors or partners? Are the following names familiar to you: Suzlon Energy, Wipro, Ranbaxy, Dr. Reddy's, Bajaj, Bharat Forge, not to mention Tata, Mahindra or Infosys? Is India Inc. about to shine on the world?
This survey is one of the first of its sort, designed by HEC Eurasia Institute in association with the network of the French Foreign Trade Advisors (CCE).
